I’ve never played football. When I say this, I mean I’ve never played it on a sports team. Sure, when I was younger, I would play flag football with my friends. However, flag football and regular football is very different.

My brother, on the other hand, did play. He played when he was in the 7th grade. I remember going to his games on Saturdays. They lasted for about an hour, maybe a little bit more. I could see myself playing football. However, I was busy with martial arts training almost every night. I didn’t have time another a second sport. That being said, I don’t regret choosing only one sport. I loved it! I enjoyed martial arts so much that I may get back into it one day.

In my house, we always had balls for many sports. In the garage would be a few basketballs. Our bedrooms might have the baseballs. The bedrooms would also have any tennis balls. A football or two might be found in the backyard. Those are all-weather balls. Sometimes we left them out so long that we only found them again once the snow had melted!

After school, and on the weekends, I would sometimes throw the football with my friends. Our goal was always to throw a perfect spiral. What a beauty it was to see a perfectly-spiraled football flying through the air! On the other end, I always found the spiral to be the easiest form of football to catch.

I miss those days of playing mock football. When my family gets together again, perhaps I’ll look for one of those footballs. I’ll be sure to search the backyard! To learn more about playing football, be sure to watch the video below. You might see some tips you’ve never seen before.
